The people behind FHI-aims:

In addition, some ongoing developments can be found on our "Features" page.

With immense sadness we report the fact that Dr. Rainer Johanni, one of the core contributors to the FHI-aims code, has passed away on June 05, 2012.

In FHI-aims, Rainer's work touched almost anything related to scalability, especially (but not only) on massively parallel algorithms for the real-space operations, the eigenvalue solver, the infrastructure "beyond LDA/GGA". He was a genius when it came to algorithms, and his work will leave a lasting impact long beyond his untimely death. Perhaps even more importantly, he was also a great person. We will greatly miss Rainer, and hope he found his peace.
